At Hawassa Hope, clean water projects are one of the most practical, lasting ways we can serve vulnerable communities in Ethiopia. And in 2026, we are stepping forward with a clear goal:
We want to fund and complete 10 clean water projects in 2026.
That is thousands of people with a safer, healthier daily life.That is hope you can measure, and hope that lasts.
We have completed 24 clean water projects over the years, and we are currently working on the 25th. The need continues to be overwhelming. Many communities wait years for access to a safe water source, and the list is long.
When a community has safe water nearby, the ripple effects are immediate.
- Health improves because families are not relying on contaminated sources
- Kids can focus on school instead of spending hours collecting water
- Women gain time and safety when long walks for water are no longer required
- Communities grow stronger when a basic need is met consistently
What a clean water project looks like (and why it lasts)
One reason we love clean water work is because it is both urgent and sustainable.
A typical clean water project can serve 1,000 to 2,000 people and can last 20+ years with local maintenance. Communities form water committees and local authorities oversee ongoing care.
In other words, your gift does not just help for a moment. It keeps helping year after year.

- Donate toward clean water projects. Every gift helps fund materials, labor, and completion so a community can have reliable access to safe water.
- Start your own fundraising page. Invite your friends, family, workplace, small group, or community to give with you. It is one of the simplest ways to multiply impact.
- Host an event to raise funds for clean water. A 5K, a birthday fundraiser, a school challenge, a yard sale, a benefit night, a pickleball tournament, a dinner with friends. If you can gather people, you can bring clean water closer.
