Take a moment to read Zach’s thoughts about his first time going to Ethiopia with Hawassa Hope.

What inspired you to want to go on a Hawassa Hope trip?

Hearing about the work God was doing through Hawassa Hope inspired me to go. Not only the general mission, but Greg and Charisa’s specific calling and being drawn to Ajuuja. It’s hard to stay away from their heart for our brothers and sisters in Ethiopia.

What moment from the trip will stay with you forever?

There was a moment when I looked into the eyes of one of the children in Ajuuja and we were just staring at each other.  I felt such love for someone I didn’t know, but I knew God had such great love for her and it felt as if He gave me his love to share with this baby.

How did you experience God move?

I experienced God moving through His Spirit. We were often given opportunity and led to specific people in need where God desired us to share resources. I also felt His Spirit humbling me and giving me clarity to see others as He does. I felt him removing a veil I looked into, so I could see clearly our purpose in this world.

Why would you encourage others to support Hawassa Hope?

I would encourage others to support Hawassa Hope because God is connecting people of different nations and uniting them under the banner of Christ. I saw the body of Christ seeking to serve the least of these and not only with resources, but love and prayer.

In one word, how would you describe the trip?

Ekklesia: the church, have been literally “called out” of the world (in Greek ekklesia is related to kaleo, “to call”) in order to live free of its dictates and to belong fully, at every moment, to God and to one another.
